Abstract:
The nonlinearity of the equations of turbulence forces the mathematician to study approximation techniques, such as model equations which exhibit many of the chatacteristics of the realistic equations. Computational methods to the solution of the model equation of Burgers are investigated. The application of a classical method of converting a partial differential equation into an infinite system of ordinary differential equations is studied. Numerical results obtained from a FORTRAN program are given. Author
