In neutral aqueous solutions, irradiated with Co60 gamma rays, two reducing species, i.e. the self-trapped electron negative polaron thereafter denoted by H2O-, and primarily formed H atoms, have been shown to be present. In irra diated 1.6 times 10 to the minus 2M aqueous solutions of N2O a yield of GN2 -3.2 molecules100 eV was found. This yield, coming from the reaction of negative polarons with N2O, is unaltered in the presence of solutes which do not react with H2O-. Author
