Various methods for determining air change rates in a building space are critically investigated, and tentative conclusions are drawn from the data. Several buildings are used for the determination of air change rates in potential shelter spaces by gravity circulation alone. The buildings vary in size, use and configuration, and air circulation paths are changed in each building in an effort to determine optimum conditions for gravity ventilation. An experimental test facility is used to check out and refine instrumentation, equipment, and procedures.
