Abstract:

IBM Reference Manual Random Number Generation and Testing, are selected for testing and evaluation. Fourteen blocks of 5140 random numbers are produced by each generator and tested for properties of randomness by six standard, statistical tests. The IBM 1620 computer program that generates the numbers and performs the tests is listed and described. Both generators produce a sequence of about five million random numbers with about the same computer time and storage requirements. The Lehmer generator produces a more random sequence of random numbers. Author
