The primary purpose of this project was the collection of arthropods, particularly those of medical or potential medical importance, processing the specimens and the subsequent publication of taxonomic studies made by collaborating specialists. An estimated total of 950,000 specimens, including about 375,000 ectoparasites taken from approximately 13,250 vertebrates, were collected. Specimens are being processed in Honolulu, Taiwan, Japan and Malaya, and distributed to more than 50 specialists for study. Results will be published by the Bishop Museum in Pacific Insects, Pacific Insects Monographs or Journal of Medical Entomology. Author
