Abstract:

Transient pyroelectric currents are generated by single-crystal triglycine sulfate, in response to keyed X-band energy. The pyroelectric signal rises to a sharp peak as the sample temperature is increased from 24 to 50 C, then decreases rapidly above 50 C. A first-order theory is developed which shows good agreement with the pyroelectric signals obtained for thin samples of TGS, but is less adequate for thick samples. A thermal conductivity, sigma sub T 1.64 x 10 to the -3rd power calcmsec C, and thermal diffusivity, h to the 2nd power 4.19 x 10 to the 3rd power sq cmsec, are calculated for TGS. Author
