This project covers a survey which was conducted in the field at representative facilities employing barometric pressure devices which are used to calibrate or set aircraft altimeters. The facilities surveyed included eleven civil airport control towers with their associated weather stations, three military airport control towers, three military airport weather stations, two instrument repair shops serving trunk airlines, feeder airlines, and supplemental airlines, eleven additional FAA certified instrument repair shops, four Air Force repair stations, two Navy repair stations, three Air Force calibration laboratories, two Navy calibration laboratories, and one FAA calibration laboratory. The report contains a description of the survey, a discussion of the over-all results of the survey, together with recommendations for upgrading the accuracy of the barometric pressure measuring and calibration devices in the facilities and for continuing a program of this type. Statistical data analysis methods are applied to the actual test data so that tabulated predictions are obtained for all classes of facilities surveyed. Author
