Abstract:

By way of Babinets principle the Yagi antenna is studied in detail with a slot-antenna model. Current magnitude and phase on idividual elements are measured for various element lengths and element spacings. A series of experiments are performed to highlight the interaction phenomena between an individual element and its neighbors. Termination effects are studied for an 18-element array with elements one-third of a wavelength in length and with various element spacings. A study of local effects on a Yagi array of slot antennas on curved surfaces is made in order to give insight into the propagation of so-called surface waves along such finite periodic structures. In conclusion, an analytic technique is offered as a guide to understanding the Yagi. Author
