Abstract:

Although a large number of tests for nonorganic hearing loss are available, no test is foolproof. Quantification of nonorganic hearing loss and differentiation between voluntary malingering and subconscious psychogenic, auditory disorders appear particularly difficult. In each case of suspected nonorganic hearing loss, several methods must be used to substantiate the diagnosis. It is recommended that, after informal examination, one or several tests and at least one proof test be administered. The classification of tests and their evaluation is made. A more detailed description of the most widely used tests is given. Author
