Abstract:

Research was conducted to compile the unpublished space materials information pertaining to the RCA Space Capsule Program. This report includes a compilation of monographs on Metals and Coatings and Bondings and Encapsulations, and a Materials Summary. The materials information presented refers to the resins, silicone rubber compounds, surface coatings, and metals that were used on TIROS I, II, III, and IV. Each of the materials is described in detail including such information as physical properties, electrical properties, formulations, procedures for mixing, uses, preparation of surfaces, application of mixtures, cure cycles, and the methods of testing used to determine all values.
