Abstract:

The transfer-matrix method is developed into a step-by-step procedure for obtaining anlytical expressions for the steady-state vibration response of plane frames composed of beams connected in series. Transfer matrices based on superposition of the longitudinal and lateral vibrations of a uniform beam are presented which can include the effects of material damping, shear, and rotary inertia. The resulting procedure is developed into an extensive Fortran Program for calculating response curves for force ratios, velocity ratios, impedances, etc. from a small amount of input data. Input data requirements, including an input map, and the form of output data are explained in detail. A Fortran listing of the complete program and a brief description of the main program are also included. Author
