Abstract:

Serum cholesterol and lipoprotein data from a continuing study of initially healthy young men were analyzed. Weight gain and a family history of vascular disease were found to be associated with higher cholesterol levels and with greater concentrations of very low density lipoproteins Sf 20-400 which transport the majority of triglyceride. These results are discussed in the light of present information related to lipid transport and the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease. Author
