Abstract:

The results are presented of a theoretical investigation into the flow of an electrically conducting, incompressible fluid over a sphere. The sphere has a magnetic dipole at its center. The magnetic Reynolds number was assumed to be small and an asymptotic expansion in terms of it was used to obtain the first order magnetohydrodynamic effects on the velocity and pressure. The vorticity on the surface of the sphere is infinite. Numerical results were obtained for the velocity and pressure in the neighborhood of the stagnation streamline. Author
