Abstract:

The acoustic velocity potential is calculated for a flexible circular disk with a uniform pressure distribution in an infinite rigid planar baffle. It is shown that the cavitation limited power output from the constant pressure disk exceeds the output from a disk with a constant velocity distribution. The velocity potential is calculated for a rigid circular disk in an infinite baffle when the boundary condition on the baffle is pressure - velocity normal to the baffle. constant acoustic impedance of the baffle. The baffle is assumed to be almost rigid, and an approximation is obtained which is of the same type as the Kirchhoff approximation in diffraction theory. The case of any baffle impedance is treated also if the baffle reactance is negative, the baffle supports surface waves. Author
