Research was concerned with the exploration of interaction of phonons lattice vibrations with charge carriers and effects closely related to these. The first major accomplishment was the discovery of the transmitted phonon drag in silicon npn-structures. The transmitted phonon drag was used to explore a variety of scattering phenomena, all in silicon.
