Abstract:

Wind-tunnel tests were conducted on a model of a VTOL aircraft using a free-pivoted tilting wing with aerodynamically controlled tilt angle. The results of the test show that it is not possible to trim the pitching moment and the axial force on the wing simultaneously at all angles of wing tilt. The effect of pivot location on ability to trim is shown, and modifications to improve ability to trim are suggested. Author
