Abstract:

A miniature multichannel, micro-powered biotransensor and its attendant receiving system were developed. The biotransensor included a fourchannel telemetry transmitter and sensors designed to monitor body temperature, respiration rate, cardioelectric activity, and blood pressure. The results of the program show that a system, as described above, can be made to operate in excess of 90 days and transmit simulated physiological data with a good degree of accuracy, and that through further research miniature longlived, multichannel biotransensors may be developed which will make possible the long-term monitoring of animals in stressful environment. Significant results are presented in this report, as well as recommendations for development of future miniaturized multichannel bioinstrumentation systems, capable of operating in excess of one year.
