Abstract:

Results are presented of an experimental study of the cryopumping of CO2 in a chamber designed to investigate high altitude jet effects problems. The CO2 jet was found to provide a strong ejector action which provides high altitude simulation while allowing the cryopumping of high mass flows per unit cryosurface area. The test time was found to be limited by the cryodeposit buildup which caused an increase in the pressure downstream of the model until breakdown of the ejector action occurred. Experimental results are correlated with existing theories. Author
