Abstract:

The studies presented in this report were aimed toward achieving some understanding of the absorption of nutrients during exposure to cold. It was found that exposure of adult male or female rats for four to five days at 4 C resulted in increased absorption of calcium and decreased absorption of iron. It was also found that elevation of room temperature from 26 to 37 C decreased the organ uptake of radioactivity of vitamin B12, but increased the absorption of this nutrient. Author
