Abstract:

Six plexiglass vaporizers which incorporate air injected tangentially into a circular base con taining water were tested over a wide range of flow rates. One model, an eight-by-eight-inch circular, truncated cone with a twelve-inch-tall chimney, successfully produced saturated air at rates between 0.0522 lbmsec to 0.0826 lbmsec 40 to 60 cu. ftmin. A qualitative analysis of this device is presented which is successful in describing the flow processes involved. Furthermore, an analysis of the data obtained indicates the feasibility of a gravity-feed reservoir, with an entry tap under the rotating water, as a method of replenishing water by evaporation.
