Abstract:
This report deals with the development of inertial guidance systems for ballistic missiles. It covers the evolution of guidance devices from the early days of experimentation during the 1930s, through the operational use of the work horse LEV-3 system on the German V-2 rockets, to the reliable and accurate guidance mechanisms of today. Personnel of the ABMA Laboratories, with experience dating as far back as pre-World War II days, made great contributions to the advancement of the art, science and engineering of inertial guidance systems.
