Abstract:
An optical scanning method has been developed to present frequency content as it occurs and changes throughout a variable-density seismogram. Energy distributions are shown in both frequency and time. A two-dimensional pattern is presented which can be visually evaluated, and is suitable for numerical measurement. The report describes and discusses the method, and gives illustrative examples. It also describes a similar scanning method by which seismic wave dispersions can be revealed and measured.
