Abstract:

Three series of highly conjugated polyacene quinone radical PAQR semiconducting polymers were synthesized and their electronic behavior studied. The effects of the following variables on the electrical properties of the PAQR polymers were examined 1 hydrocarbon portion of the polymers 2 acidic portion of the polymers 3 copolymerization and mole ratio of starting monomers 4 metallic salt formation and 5 pressure and temperature. Room temperature resistivity was found to be indirectly dependent on the number of fused rings of monomer, ionization constant of acidic monomer, square root of pressure applied and directly on the energy interval of all the PAQR polymers studied. Pressure coefficient of resistivity was found to be a direct function of the energy interval of the polymers. Spin concentration varies directly with carrier concentration and indirectly with room temperature resistivity of the PAQR polymers. Author
