Abstract:

A method of calculating step transitions in transmission lines through the use of Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind is proposed. The advantage of step transitions calculated by this method consists in a greater gain and a greater smoothness of the transitions, at given transi tion length and overlap coefficient, than with step transitions known as binomial transi tions. The proposed calculation method ignores local waves at the junctions between the steps and does not take into account repeated reflec tions. Only the theory of the method is dis cussed in the article it is illustrated by a series of graphs and some numerical examples. Brief information and Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind is also given. Author
