Abstract:

The notion of an effective thermal conductivity for reacting gaseous mixtures is applied to the prediction of convective heat transfer rates when dissociation, diffusion and atom recombination take place within a laminar boundary layer in quasi-equilibrium. The result for the forward stagnation region of a cool blunt-nosed body is compared with recent solutions to the boundary layer equations. Author
