Abstract:

Boron influenced the growth of B. anthracis in a chemically defined medium under specific condi tions of temperature and inoculum size. At 40 C, an inoculum concentration of 820 cell chains per milliliter grew in boron medium at concentra tions from 0.01 to 1.0 microgram per milliliter, but failed to grow in the absence of added boron. A delayed growth response occurred in the absence of boron at a higher initial cell concentration. Boron had no effect on cells incubated at 26 C. Author
