Abstract:

Since the beginning of World War II, there has arisen a continuing need to maintain units of the fleet at sea for long periods of time. This has naturally led to the development of refueling and reprechniques at sea to enable ships to remain on station for extended inter vals. Since these techniques are sensitive to environmental conditions, it behooves the naval meteorologist to have some understanding of the problem of reprovisioning at sea and, in particu lar, of those meteorological elements which ex hibit an adverse effect on refueling operations. This publication is intended to fulfill this need. Author
