Abstract:

To study the effect of radiation on the popu lation of cell colonies a simple model is constructed that follows a cell through a two dimensional random walk, where one dimension represents state of growth and the other represents state of health or number of sites damaged. The cell is subjected to radiation exposure at prescribed times and doses which can be varied. The cell will eventually either divide or become sterile. An IBM 7090 FORTRAN program of the Monte Carlo procedure presents a statistical summary of results at the absorbing barrier. Author
