Abstract:

Empirical equations were obtained for equilibrium dissociating and ionizing air and nitrogen for temperatures up to 15,000 K and in the entropy range 1.42 log SR 2.06. The corresponding density range is approximately 10-6 to 102 amagats. The density p,S, enthalpy Hp,S, compressibility factor Zp,S, and speed of sound ap,S are presented in equation form and as an IBM Fortran subroutine program.
