Abstract:

This study was undertaken tore the accuracy of two different methods of computation of MPCh Maximum Usable Frequency for the short-wave radio communication links in order to find out which of these two to recommend as the most satisfactory Physics-Wave Propagation, TT, v. 10, no. 2 method to be used in radio forecasts published by the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Propagation of Radio-waves. Only two most widely used methods were compared The method of reference points and the method of equal jumps. The examination of these two methods was done by comparing the calculated values of MPCh with the actual values observed on several radio communication links. The results obtained are concerned with the middle latitude and polar communication links and are right for the periods of maximum solar activity.
