A computer study for predicting high-speed launcher performance was conducted using a one dimensional hydrodynamics computer code. This computer code uses the Lagrangian scheme, and is based on the q method as devised by Von Neumann and Richtmyer. These calculations provide under standing for the proper variation of the launcher parameters for optimization of launcher perform ance. A series of calculations for the 2-in. Two-Stage Hypervelocity Model Launcher, which is in use in the NOL 1,000-ft. Hyperballistics Range No. 4, are presented and are compared with the actual performance of the launcher.
