Characteristic data are presented for magnesiummagnesium-perchlorate reserve cells discharged at temperatures as low as -40 F. Cathode efficiency data as a function of temperature and current drain are also presented. Factors affecting the performance of dry cell batteries were investigated. Cathode efficiencies, storage characteristics, and electrode surface phenomena were evaluated. Data are also presented for a newly-developed magnesiummercuric-oxide meteorological battery, including discharge data for temperatures as low as -58 F.
