Efforts continued on the evaluation of advanced tube manufacturing techniques and their application to the fabrication of a more reliable and better performing tube. Tests indicated tubes must have hard solder anodes to withstand 225 C anode seal temperature consistently. The mass spectrometric gas content analysis has shown that the majority of tubes failing the humidity test do so because of the introduction of hydrogen into the tube. The source of the hydrogen has not been isolated.
