Curves are presented of the correlation gains of polarity-coincidence sampling correlators Deltics when the signal is a low-modulation-rate FM sinusoid which has been heavily corrupted by additive noise. The reference is clean and identical to the signal, no allowance being made for phasing error. Sampling rates both below and above Nyquist are considered. For comparison, the processing gains of the corresponding linear sampling correlators are given. As expected, there is not a fixed dB loss between clipped and linear correlation nor are the results quite the same as for noise-like signals. For completeness the behavior at high input signal-to-noise ratio is briefly discussed. Application is made to the ARTEMIS system. Author
