Abstract:

This analysis considers the possibility of ignition by spontaneous combustion, by high energy sparks, or by engine case burnthroughs from a combustible mixture caused by engine components or plumbing leakage into the engine nacelle area or into the cavity between the gas generator and the duct heater. Both a pressurized nacelle and an unpressurized nacelle are considered in this report. The analysis is based on required stay times at temperature for a combustible mixture as well as statistical data from commercial engines. Author
