Abstract:
The results of a 12-month progream on the analytical and experimental characterization of the physical properties of selected liquid propellants are presented in three phases. In Phase I, a literature survey was conducted to update the presently available compilation of physical properties data. Phase II experimental efforts have resulted in the measurement of N2H4-CH32N2H250-50 and CH3N2H3 thermal conductivity IRFNA and ClF5 sonic velocity ClF3 and CH3N2H3 specific heat, and correction of ClF5 specific heat data ClF3 phase properties and the design and assembly of apparatuses for measurement of inert gas solubility in liquids and liquid viscosities at extended temperatures and pressures. Phase III efforts included the assembly and evaluation of physical property data on MHF-1, MHF-3, MHF-5, ClF3, and ClF5 for future summary publication and correlation of all data generated in Phase I and II.
