Selected data from the sound ranging tests conducted by USAECOM at Fort Sill, Oklahoma were processed using a direct-access, time-sharing computer system. Using all possible combinations of three microphones in a six-microphone array, 20 target predictions were obtained in each case. In obtaining these predictions, three meteorological techniques were used, viz., No Met, Surface Met and Artillery Met. Statistics of the mean prediction error and of the individual target predictions were used. None of the meteorological techniques were found to be satisfactory using a reasonable prediction error criterion. A new and promising calculational technique was evolved. Author
