The weapon described was developed to meet an urgent requirement for an aid to Military and Police Authorities when dealing with civil riots. It takes the form of a cartridge which is fired from a pistol and is produced in two calibres. The projectile contains a liquid filling of a staining or lachrymatory nature, which is dispersed on the rioters. It is designed to be used at ranges in excess of stone-throwing distances.
