Abstract:

Work progress on research programs in the areas of new fiber forming substances, protective finishes and coatings, and of flexible high strength fiber materials is reported. Requirements for these fibrous materials are stipulated. The materials are used for various type decelerators of aerospace reentry vehicles insulation rigid and inflatable structures fiber optics protective coverings and pressure containers. Mechanical, physical, thermal, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and permeability data are reported for the various fabrics discussed. LS-PL.
