Abstract:

A communication scheme for random multipath channels is investigated. During predetermined intervals the transmitter sends sounding signals that receiver uses to predict behavior of channel during intermediate time when communication is performed. It is assumed that channel varies slowly, and additive noise in receiver is low. The possibility of representing a multipath channel as a time-variant filter is investigated. A sampling theorem for linear bandpass filters is derived, and expected results when it is used to represent a single fluctuating path with Doppler shift are discussed.
