RANGE ERROR ANALYSIS
ARMY MAP SERVICE WASHINGTON DC
Pagination or Media Count:
The sample world-wide satellite tracking program carried out by the Army Map Service is presented. By using satellites with known heights and inclinations and the coordinates of known points on geodetic datums, the coordinates of unknown points were related to these datums. The known and unknown points used in each segment of the program are presented, and the probable error in the correction to each unknown point is given. This program is intended to be a theoretical problem for testing the range error analysis theory and equations and the resulting errors which would be associated with each determined position therefore, the coordinates used for the known and unknown points were taken from maps and gazetteers and are only approximate.
