Abstract:
T HE EFFECTS OF INHIBITOR ON THE HYDROGEN-AIR R ACTION WERE STU IED BY ME SURI G FLAME PEEDS OF YDROG N-AIR-INHIBITOR IXTURES, AND VIA SHOCK TUBE AND SPECTRO COPIC T CHNIQUES. Th best inhibi ors were hydrocarbons as a group, bromine-subs ituted ydrocarbons, sev ral metallic chlorides, and iron carbonyl. Detailed kinetic s udies of the effec s of CH4 C2H4, C2F3Br and C2F4Br2 on the hydrogen-oxygen reaction indicate that they remove radicals chiefly H atoms - from the reacting gas hen it is in the temp ra ure range 900 - 1300K. Methods for calculating reaction kinetic from the experimental d ta are described briefly. Author
