Compressive and shear properties were determined for two configurations of sandwich cores of corrugated aluminum foil. The corrugated foil was assembled either with the corrugation flutes parallel, to form the usual honeycomb core with hexagonal cells, or with the corrugation flutes crossbanded and cut so that the corrugation flutes were at 45 degrees to the sandwich facing. Compressive and shear strength values were lower for the crossbanded core than for the honeycomb core. Author-PL.
