Abstract:

The second of two experiments was conducted to investigate effects of air ions on human performance. Twenty-four subjects worked on two psychomotor tasks under experimental stress while exposed to positive ions, negative ions, and no ions control case. No significant differences between treatments were found. Evidence from both ion experiments strongly supports the conclusion that ions at least up to concentrations of about 60,000 ions per cc h ve no apparent effect on psychomotor performance in either stres or nonstress situations.
