Abstract:

The infusion of Lipomul, SR 695 and Intralipid produced pigment and vacuolization of endoplasmic reticulum in hepatocytes when livers were examined electron microscopically. Lipomul produced the most pigment and least vacuolization, and Intralipid the least pigment and most vacuolization. The pigment appeared to be a poorly digestible residue of fat which entered the cell by pinocytosis and was aggregated in lysosomes which remained unchanged for long periods. The nature or significance of the changes in the endoplasmic reticulum are unknown. Author
