Abstract:

The influence of relaxation caused by excitation of vibrational degrees of freedom of a diatomic gas on flow in the region of the stagnation point of a blunt axisymmetric body moving at supersonic velocity is examined. The approximate solution of the problem is found. The parameters of the gas near the axis of symmetry between the body and the shock wave are determined. Using certain assumptions the solution was obtained in final form. The results are given on the influence of relaxation on the separation of a shock wave as a sphere moves in air, considered to be a mixture of molecular oxygen and nitrogen. Author
