Abstract:

The effect of variations in thickness from 12 inch to 4 inches on shear properties of an aluminum honeycomb core was evaluated. Preparation of shear specimens and evaluation procedures are described. Results showed that shear strength parallel to the core ribbon direction decreased 36 and shear strength perpendicular to the core ribbon direction decreased 23 as core thickness increased from 12 inch to 4 inches.
