Abstract:

Decreasing the quantity of Nujol and of phenylcyclohexane in the p lymerization of potassium m-halop enoxide has been shown to provide somewhat higher molecular weights. The effects of surface treatment, particle size and quantity of catalyst on the polymerization have been investigated. The results are interpreted a indicating important roles for each of these variables with surface contaminants indicated as the aj r variable influencing the catalytic activity. M R test results are given for comparison with findings at Wright Field. Attempts to mol all mechanical-test bars are descri ed. Three-point flexural test and vibrating reed test formulae are considered with regar to their use with small test bars. Author
