Abstract:
The freedom of movement of a free-floating and weightless operator who is tethered to a spacecraft is described. The intent is to determine in what manner a lifeline limits his six degrees of motion freedom and if limitations do exist to suggest schemes by which man can be tethered with minimum restrictions. The operators motion behavior as he soars along a tether stretched between two weightless masses is also described. Orbital motions of the two bodies, ether physical characteristics and arness attachments on the operator are not considered.
