Abstract:
Initial studies concerned with the production of superalloy powders by inert gas atomization of liquid metal alloys are described. Techniques were developed for melting and atomization of Inco 713C. Argon gas was employed for atomization. Relations between atomization pressures, melt temperature and powder characteristics were established. The properties of the powders produced to date are summarized and discussed. Important features of the equipment used in this program are also discussed. The powders produced are fi e, have good flow characteristics and low interstitials. Author
